Karen and her mother, Kitty, were featured in the July/August 2009 issue of We Care Orlando magazine. The article begain, “It’s accessible, it’s universal, it’s aging-in-place all wrapped into one. It’s a home that was the end product of Karen Kassik’s belief four years ago that the housing market was poised to begin transitioning from what we consider green and sustainable to accessible for all ages.”

Remodel Orlando article: ‘Universal Design’

Karen was quoted extensively in the September/October 2009 issue of Remodel Orlando magazine, pointing out that “aging in place” design need not just be for the elderly. “Many of the design features that we use for the elderly also work wonderfully for children and everyone in the house,” Karen said. Orange TV segment for ‘Active Lifestyles’

Karen gave a tour of her accessible home, which she shares with her mother, for the Orange TV program Active Lifestyles in spring 2009. The home Karen designed is “Aging in Place” friendly; wide doors, wide halls, accessible bathrooms, no step downs, etc. Now her mom has great mobility within the home and can be much more self supportive.
